There are several different types of clergy serving within the Diocese.
DIOCESAN: Clergy canonically resident within the American Catholic Communities, subject to the diocesan bishop, and possessing full faculties and endorsement for their roles.
EXTRA-DIOCESAN: Clergy who are active within the American Catholic Communities, though they are not directly subject to the bishop of the Diocese.
DUAL JURISDICTION: Clergy who are active in the American Catholic Communities, though they are also canonically subject to oversight by another authority within the Communion, usually a religious superior.
OVERSIGHT: Clergy who are in the process of discerning transfer, are resident within the diocese, and have requested Apostolic Oversight. They possess temporary faculties during their discernment process, pursuant to Canon One, Title V, Section B, Paragraph 3 of the Code of Canon Law.
RETIRED: Clergy who are canonically resident within the American Catholic Communities who are officially retired from active ministry. They retain faculties, pursuant to Canon Eleven of the Code of Canon Law.
